When Christyn sent me an email with a link to her Esty shop, I was blown away by her creativity and talent. She truly has a gift for jewelry making and I was so excited when she agreed to donate a piece to my readers.
My favorites from Bead Up are the Dewdrop Rose Quartz and Amethyst Earrings pictured above and the Green with Envy Bracelet, that I can’t seem to find in the shop anymore!
Thank you so much to all of you that picked your favorite Bead Up item and entered, and a huge hug and kiss to all of you who went to her shop and made a purchase. Your support for her means so much to me!
After a Random selection, the winner of My Favorite Things: Bead Up is Tiffany! Thanks again my lovely readers for your support for Christyn. Now go…SHOP!
I interrupt your regularly scheduled Match Maker Monday for a very special announcement…Today is a very special day…you see, today one of my favorite ladies is celebrating the anniversary of her 25th Birthday!
My blog crush on Brookem started about a year ago when Brandy introduced me to her, and she commented on me going to see Sara Barielles. I spent hours reading all of her old entries and just knew that we were kindred spirits. We shared a hatred of stupid boys and a love of martinis, shoes and men with good hair.
Over the last year, we’ve grown to be great friends. She’s always there for me when I need her via email or phone. Some days it’s nice to just talk to someone outside of your day to day world to give you insight and let you know that you’re not alone in your crazy thoughts!
My lovely Brookem…Happy Birthday! Cheers to having your best year ever! Your friendship means more to me than you will ever know. I can’t wait to see you…hope that it’s sooner than later!
Now what are you waiting for?? Go tell her how great she is! NOW!!

Hello my long lost blog friends! I’m so sorry that I’ve been MIA lately. Work is sucking the life out of me and spring just seems to be a pretty busy time of the year. When I saw that Jules was the only one keeping things afloat around here I was so embarrassed. My blog needs some good lovin’.Although I’ve been swamped, I have a few new additions to my life that seem to be making things better/ easier/ more fun lately.
Exhibit A: New Coffee Maker.
- My Savior
I know that this sounds crazy, but above coffee maker changed my world! I can’t begin to tell you how great it is to wake up to fresh coffee. It’s so much better than waiting and has been helpful in getting my day off on the right start. Best $40 ever spent!
Exhibit B: Closet Store Solutions
I was on the verge of throwing all my shoes out the window due to my frustration with my closet storage. Then a friend introduced me to Neat Containers. Pretty much the greatest storage solution every, clear containers that turn your closet in to a perfect shoe dresser! Go to the site and check it out.
Exhibit C: Home Movies
I invested in a FLIP cam. (Of course mine is pink.) I haven’t had a lot of time to play around with it yet, but I think it’s going to be a great investment for the future of this blog. Once I become a bit better, I’ll be sure to share with you. Right now they all look like “Blair Witch Project” material.
Exhibit D:Say Hey by Michael Franti
I am seriously in LOVE with this song. It just makes me want to roll down the windows in my car and dance!
PS- If you can tell me about a great summer song that I just have to have for my Zumba classes that I don’t have yet, I will gift you this song on iTunes.
Exhibit E: Tomorrows Giveaway!!! Get excited!!!
What have you been loving lately that I just HAVE to know about??
Any one who is my Facebook friend knows that I have developed a passion for Zumba Fitness over the last year. I love it so much that I started teaching in December. A friend of mine who I did some photos with before, Amy Free, did some shots for the Zumba company that I work for. Here is a preview…
There have been some anti-Zumba posts floating around the blogosphere, and I undersand that some people don’t share the love of movement the same way that I do. But if you’ve never tried a class before, you need to. And if you don’t love it, try another instructor before giving up!
So I can hear you all asking, “What’s Zumba?” Zumba is a fitness program that incorporates International rhythms and fitness. So you do all different types of dancing: salsa, meringue, samba, bhangra, belly, cumbia, even some hip hop! With hot moves and bangin’ music, Zumba is more like a dance party than a workout. The instructor should be telling you what do do next by showing you…NOT verbally cuing you like traditional fitness. This takes a lot of people a class or two to get used to, but once you do it’s so much more fun!
I had a few friends doubt the fitness level of the class because of it’s dance based choreography, but I’ve seen amazing results not only in my students, but in myself as well. I haven’t been in this good of shape since my glory days early college! I’d rather “Shake it like Shakira” (thanks Brandy) than go to the gym ANY day! You can find a class near you by searching the Zumba site by zip code. If you’re in NC, you can get my schedule here.
K: “SJ, he’s adorable! Why don’t you jump on that?”
SJ Thinking: Umm….you have no idea…
SJ: “Among other reasons, he’s non-committal.”
K: “One day soon, he’ll catch the bug…until then, HOVER!”
I’ve been a homebody lately. After weeks of trying to pinch pennies and avoid hangovers, when some of my dance buddies asked me if I wanted to go out on Friday night and get all dressed up for a techno party, I could resist. 1. I LOVE costumes (they bring me back to my sorority girl days), and b. I LOVE dancing.
I always thought that the best part of getting dressed up was finding the perfect outfit and getting ready. I took the Style-ish lead and went for colored tights, then added a bit of flair with my purple bob.
As soon as I put the wig on my head, I felt like a new woman! It was so liberating.
We pulled up to the club ready to party, but when we look out of the cab…NO ONE ELSE WAS DRESSED UP! You know like in Bridget Jones when she’s at the Tart and Vigor’s party in a bunny suit and no one else is in costume? That was me.
I had about one second of embarrassment, but you only live once! We were the hit of the party. I’m pretty sure that people thought that we were hired by the club as characters…that was until they saw us taking pictures of ourselves! Before the night was over, I’m pretty sure we posed for 20 different cameras! Everyone wanted a shot of us.
So many people thought that Megan’s Rainbow Bright/ Jem wig was real, that Michael looked like David Bowie and that Gaby was a Mexican Amy Winehouse!
If you could have an alter ego for one night, who would you be?
