Talent and Looks…How did they get so lucky?

I love celebs, but I rarely blog about them. This is mostly due to so many other blogs like Perez, Just Jared and Pink is the New Blog, that have a pretty good hold on this market. Not to mention that I don’t have the extra bucks to pay a camera crew to get the newest and hottest pics.

This week’s 10 is your favorite actors/actresses. This is in no order what so ever. It’s hard to put the boys and girls all in one group…but here’s my go.

  1. Audrey Hepburn– An American Icon. Impeccable style and class. A wonderful humanitarian with an amazing talent. My hands down favorite of all time!
  2. Jack Nicholson– He’s had dozens of quotable movies that will be watched for decades.
  3. Reese Witherspoon-I love almost everything she is in. She’s always changing it up a bit, and I think she’s super classy and has great style (especially since her divorce).
  4. Matthew McConaughey– If you look up Big Sexy in Wikipedia, this is what you get. Truth be told, the OBS reminds me of him a bit…it must be that Southern Charm.
  5. Scarlett Johansson-She pretty much just screams I’m Big Sexy! I love that she’s not skin and bones. I love her timeless look. Not to mention that I think she’s a decant actress.
  6. Leonardo DiCaprio– I have loved him since Growing Pains. I think he’s one of the best actors of our time and that he will be around for years and years to come.
  7. Bette Midler– Say what you wish about this pick, but Beaches, The First Wives Club and Gypsy are some of my favorite movies ever.
  8. Morgan Freeman– He’s pretty great. All his movies leave me on the edge of my seat.
  9. Nicole Kidman– She’s an amazing talent. I would also like to steal her wardrobe and personal trainer and husband.
  10. Brad Pitt– Because you’re hot. HOT. HOT. HOT. (I know Brandy disagrees, but he can adopt me any day.)

**My little sister would be sad if I didn’t give a shout out to her Big Sexy Actor James Franco.

Can I Get a Handyman, Please?

…and can you make sure he’s BIG SEXY?

This week’s “Ten on a Tuesday”, is 10 things you’d fix in your house if you had the time and money. Since I’m closing on Thursday (ahhhh!), I’m going to tell you ten things I’d like to do to improve my house! It’s newly renovated, so there’s not too much that needs done! Plus, the house I rent now is in the same complex and identical to the one I’m buying, so these improvements are things that I think about all the time.

Ten Things to Make My Home Killer!
  1. Paint- the entire house needs to be painted before I move in! There’s only primer on the walls right now.
  2. Kitchen light- There is a hideous neon light there right now. UGH! I tried to find one tonight, but the selection was lacking.
  3. Back splash in the kitchen behind the stove– Needs no explanation.
  4. Landscape the back yard- The pine straw needs to go ASAP!
  5. Patio furniture- Debating on lounge chairs or table and chairs.
  6. Dimmers on downstairs lights- These are a must! Otherwise it’s too bright. Don’t we all need dimmers to set the mood? BS Style?
  7. Chair for office/reading room- Some times it’s too work like to blog at the desk.
  8. Hardware on kitchen cabinets- this will be a nice value add, but sounds like a weekend project in the next few months.
  9. Art– My house is in need of more of this.
  10. Crown molding upstairs- There will be crown molding downstairs, but I’d love to have it in the bedrooms too.

10 Things to do Before You Get Married

This one is hard…and I think this Post Secret pretty much sums things up for me. I have no idea what I one should do before they get married…but he’s a guess.
  1. Turn at least 25! Check. But I still have days where I think I’m too young for marriage.
  2. Fall in love with YOURSELF. This is a work in progress.
  3. Design your house/life with your own personal style and taste in mind, not what you think your other half would approve of. I have a pink bathroom, bright paisley printed chairs, etc. and now that I’ll have a house that’s all mine soon, I’m sure I’ll continue this process.
  4. Buy things you want, but don’t need, without having to ask for permission. I think this may be my favorite part of being single. Every girl needs a good pair of F*you Shoes!
  5. Get your career in order. Also, work in progress.
  6. Fall in lust with someone you’d never see yourself marrying. I think that this could be done a few more times…
  7. Buy yourself diamonds. No check here…I feel like I will do this one day…if I ever make my quota.
  8. Travel with your girlfriends. Can never be done enough…and I think should still be done post marriage.
  9. Do something you never thought you could do. I’ll have to let you know how this goes. I also never really thought that I could move to a new city alone. Or buy a house by myself.
  10. Fall truly madly deeply in love! Wishing, wanting, hoping and praying.

Love is 3/4 dream and 1/4 reality. Problems usually arise when you fall in love with the dream and not the reality. But, yet you find true love when you fall in love with both. -Unknown

10 Places I’d Take a Tourist to See In Westerville (my hometown)

This is a hard “Ten on a Tuesday” because my hometown of Westerville, OH is a suburb of Columbus and is pretty small (only about 36,000 people). So, if I weren’t cheating and taking them to fun places in Columbus…this is where I’d take them in Westerville.

  1. The Hanby House– Benjamin Hanby wrote the Christmas carol “Up on the House Top”. It’s a cute song and the house was part of the Underground Railroad.
  2. Hoover Grille– The story of Westerville is that it was home to the Anti-Saloon League during prohibition. For some silly reason, it remained dry until 2006! Hoover Grill was one of the first restaurants in Westerville to serve alcohol. It overlooks Hoover Dam (which for a long time I thought was the only Hoover- Don’t laugh, I am dumb-I know this.)
  3. The Pool at Highlands Park- As far as public pools go, this one rocks. It’s right across from my parents house.
  4. Westerville North High School- It’s been visited by several presidential candidates during election years, not to mention home to the streaker. Seriously. My little sis was there and saw the entire thing. Also, make sure you bring some spray paint so we can write on the rock outside of the school.
  5. Schniders Bakery- They open super early in the am and have the best donughts in town!
  6. Greaters Ice Cream in Uptown Westerville- It’s better than any other restaurant that has ever been in that spot…and good for people watching.
  7. Elegant Nails- This is the best nail salon, Bridget is amazing! Plus if you’re in Westerville, it’s the best place to catch up on good gossip!
  8. Inniswoods– It’s pretty. A good place to picnic and bird watch, not that I ever have, or take good pictures before any dance.
  9. Old Bag of Nails– Another one of the few places in Westerville you can go and drink. I’ve only been there once and it’s still hard for me to grasp that there’s a bar in Uptown Westerville.
  10. Straub Dance Center– This actually makes 2 trips. You see it used to be one, and now it’s two different dance studios. I grew up at the original in Uptown until the Big Split of Westerville Dancers and moved with Momma Straub and the baby of the bunch Suzy to the new school. The other sisters opened a school in the old spot! (We can drive by on the way to Greaters, Elegant Nails and OBN) *Thanks Michelle…I guess I wasn’t thinking this morning!

Truth be told, I haven’t lived in Westerville for 8 years now…things that I love there, I love because they are part of a lot of memories I have growing up, and would mean nothing to a typical tourist. Not to mention that a lot of them have changed, businesses have closed, and a lot of people who made those places great for me have moved away too! It was a good place to grow up…I just don’t know that I would take a tourist there for more than a day!

10 Things I’m Looking Forward to This Spring

I had to think about this, becuase now that I live in the Carolina’s, I am not wishing that the snow would go away…

  1. Weddings: Mere H.’s wedding March 29th, Little Brother’s wedding May 31st, Mike and MO’s wedding May 17th. It’s not that I adore weddings…truth be told, they wear me out. But I love seeing people in love, and I have reasons to get back to Lexvegas and catch up with my friends that I’m missing so much.
  2. Closing on my house: April 3rd is the set date…I can’t wait! It’s exciting and scary all at once!
  3. Cooper River Bridge Run: April 5th. I’m so excited and nervous. Not to mention that when it’s all said and done with, I can get my shoes back from SAS’s house!
  4. Tulips: I love them. They are only around in the spring…I can’t wait.
  5. Keeneland: I’m not sure that I’ll get to make it there, but I hope that I do! I love the tailgating, dressing up, seeing old friends…did I mention that the horses are nice too? However, the safest place to bet your money is on the bar…it seems to have the best ROI.
  6. The Return of TV: I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next for the Housewives, Grey’s docs, and a few other shows. Thank goodness Tyra has already started with a new band of “wanna-be C list” models.
  7. Spring Forward=Longer Days: I hate this week because the time changes, but I love that the days are long. They make it perfect for other things I’m looking forward to…
  8. Longer Days+ Happy Hours=Patios: I’m not sure where the fun patio’s in Charlotte are yet, but I’m sure I’ll find them. When I was in Lex, I would love to go to Cheapside after work the first day that the weather was remotely nice.
  9. Warmer weather=Dress time: Don’t get me wrong, I wear dresses all the time (even in the cold), but spring dresses make me feel feminine, girly and most importantly…comfortable!
  10. Big Sexies: All winter long, boys hibernate in the gym (and I do believe that they are all at the Dowd Y at 5p)…getting ready for warmer weather and cutting off all the food they devoured over the holidays. (Yes, men pack on the holiday poundage too!) Then they get out they’re short sleeve Polo’s and tees (and hopefully their credit cards to buy you drinks) and head out to patio in search for all the delicious big sexy women in their adorable spring dresses.

Ten on a Tuesday

I have been a bad Ten on a Tuesday participant lately…um…no real excuse. But I like it, so I’m going to try again. This is is Ten Favorite Drinks. The thing about drinks, is that I like different ones for different occasions. I guess mine is in no order, just what I like when, not like a true top ten. Bottoms up…or as SAS says, “Take it to…”, well perhaps this isn’t a good time to be quoting SAS. 🙂

Ten Favorite Drinks, and My Favorite Time to Sip (or pound) Them

  1. Diet Cherry Coke-Best for afternoon pick me up
  2. Starbucks Grande Non-Fat Carmel Machiato– Best for when you haven’t seen a Starbucks in miles and you’re about to crash.
