Where do you even begin to write when it’s been over 8 months since your last post, and almost a year since you’ve written consistently?

Do I begin by saying I’m sorry to my readers?

I don’t think I can, because I’m not sorry. I’m human. In fact, we’re all human and understand that life can be consuming. Living is a full time job and those of you who can live life AND manage time to blog, BRAVO! I’m not sure that I’m one of them. I used to be. I wish I could still be, but the best that I can do is try right?

Do I just jump in and leave you hanging on where I’ve been and what I’ve been up too?

I don’t think I can do this either, but I don’t have the time to do my year justice. (It was pretty fab).

Do I delete my blog and start over?

Nope. I don’t think I’ll do this either.

But I think I’ll give this little bloggie a fresh start.

It’s a new year. I’ve taken a new job. In a new town. I’m starting the new year fresh. So should my blog. No apologies. No wasting time jabbing about the past. There’s too much of a future to look forward to and write about!

I’ve missed a lot of you. And I’ve missed writing, more for me than for anyone else and I can’t wait to share 2010 with you!

MMM v.8: A Silver Lining…by Jules

Mr. Grabby Pants

Now I can’t speak for all ladies but a piece of advise as it pertains to me, a guy doesn’t need to spend a lot of money on dinner to impress me.  I could care less whether my meal is $100 or $10; what matters most is that a guy puts some real thought and creativity into planning an evening for us.  So when my big Wednesday date chose TGIFridays as our destination, you can imagine my first disappointment (no points for originality).

Then….ahhh the beauty of technology!  Now-a-days, a total frog can make themself appear like a prince in a picture with the right lighting, angulation, and cropping.  My first red flag should have been that he only sent one picture.  To my dismay, once again I fell victim to creative editing and was duped into a 2 hour long dinner with a man who wasn’t attractive at all.

To his credit, he was a very nice guy.  Potentially, a really good catch for some girl down the road.  Then we got to the parking lot…. In the words of Miss Keri Hilson:

“now wait a minute lil busta u got one more time to feel on my booty,
better recognize a lady that aint the way u do me, ya turnin me off.”

Yup you got it! Mr. Grabby Pants went right for it, a two handed grab on my booty!  Then, when I asked him to stop, he giggled and went at it again!!!  After he got done hanging on me, and molesting the goods, he tried to go in for the kill…. NO WAY JOSE!  No kisses for this one, and as a matter of fact, no more phone calls either.

Game over A Watched Pot Never Boils

I’ve had it, I’m giving up!  I’ve lost almost all hope and I’m tired of this emotional abuse I continue to enovoke upon myself.  This week I considered offering a randsome to anyone that can find me the man of my dreams….then I went out Saturday night.  Armed with my I-don’t-give-a-damn attitude, low key outfit, and low maintenance hair/make up, I went out to meet up with a group of friends.

Eventually our group fizzled out and another group of my friends showed up so I went with them.  I was so pleased when this gorgeous new man joined us.  I knew I had to talk to him.  After a few hours we locked eyes, smiled and the rest is history.  We spent all evening talking and later that night he walked me to my car.  He took my number and suggested that we get coffee or drinks soon.  I haven’t been able to wipe the smile off my face since.  Here is a preview: this is a picture of me and a couple of the girls I was with.  New Big Sexy is in the background at our table.

It’s not a good picture but at least you get the idea.  I really hope he calls but only time will tell.

MMM v. 6: Meet Ups and Mini Breaks…by SJ

Hello Loves. Sorry that Jules didn’t get a chance to have her regularly scheduled MMM post, but she’s been traveling loads and hasn’t had any new dates. But have no fear, she’ll be back next week with some juice on her latest!

For those of you who don’t know, Jules and I talk about 100 times a day, but we don’t live near each other and only get together a few times a year. Part of her travels were coming to visit me and a mini break down to Charleston, SC a few weekends ago to “Get Over It” (aka- The Cooper River Bridge Run).  Jules and our other far away work friend P2 became BSR’s while running their 1st 10k!!!

BSR's Peggy, SJ and Jules with the Drinking/ Running Club of FL

I miss my buddies so much! Thank goodness for phones, bbm and email!

But have no fear there will be more SJ and Jule’s meet up stories soon because….WE’RE GOING TO GRAND CAYMAN ISLAND in May!!! Whoot Whoot!

I’m going to Zumba on the beaches of GCI! AHHHH!!!!!!!!! And Jules is coming along for the ride! It’s going to be the best time! I can’t wait.

Back to your regularly scheduled MMM next week!

My Favorite Things: Bookworm Edition

A few weeks ago, I told you I was channeling my inner Oprah. Thanks to MEllen, Pretty in Pink got some super cute cards! Now it’s time to keep spreading the love, even though it’s raining

For my birthday, my generous friend Sarah(the one that works for Boarders in London) sent me this awesome book, Holly’s Inbox, based on the Internet phenomenon. I couldn’t put it down, and made all of my friends read it! My copy is now in shambles and has been read a gazillion times by all of my friends.

Holly’s Inbox Is scheduled to be released in the US on June 1, 2009. But who likes to wait? Not me! That’s why Sarah saved the day by sending me 2 copies to give away!

So here are the rules:

  1.  Leave a comment telling me the best thing I’d find if I got to peek in your inbox.
  2. If you post about this contest on your blog, you will get an additional entry. You must leave a second comment with the link to your blog saying that you did!

Best of Luck!!!

Daddy, I want a goose that lays golden eggs!

Just before Christmas, a good friend of mine called me with fantastic news: She had struck gold. Once upon a time, when she was born, someone purchased a bond in her name. As she matured, so did the bond. Now that it’s reached it’s full potential, she is getting $10,000! Just like that.

I was so excited for her when she called to tell me, but a part of me wished that I had a goose that laid golden eggs too!

This week another friend called me to tell me that perhaps my goose dreams had come true. Uncle Sam was going to give a tax free loan of $7500 to all first home buyers who purchased a new home after April! The catch was that you pay the loan back over the next 15 years in equal payments.

Of course my first thought was that I could have a pair or two of shoes like Tiffany

Or go on a fab vacation

Then reality hit that I could ultimately pay off my credit cards and save a bit for the dismal sales year that is wrecking my world. (And perhaps one new pair of shoes.)

As soon as I got home, I googled the info just to check it all out and make sure the rumors were true.

Low and behold, there is a Federal Housing Tax Credit if you purchased a home AFTER  April 9, 2008.  I closed on April 3rd.

Seriously…8940 minutes…144 hour…6 short days…not even one full week, is going to stand between me and the elimination of my credit card debt (and a new pair of CLs)?

WARNING to Uncle Sam: Stand back. I may need to punch someone in the face!

I guess you could say I’m still looking for my goose (and fabulous shoes that are on sale*).

*A special thanks to K. Dukes who let me in on the net-a-porter promo!

2009: The Year of Hope

I know I’ve been MIA, but there are times where there just aren’t enough hours in the day to balance real life and life on the interweb! I’ve been missing y’all tons and I can’t wait to catch up with all of you! (I think my reader is on the verge of exploding, no joke.)

I hope you’re all having a great start to your New Year! I thought about recapping my year like Kat, doing a survey like  Brookem, or listing my Tops like Brandy. Every time I sit down to write anything, my mind goes blank and I’m at a loss for words.

I guess instead telling you all of the things that I want or don’t want to do in 2009, I’ll tell you what I hope for 2009, this way I’m keeping it as a desire, not a commitment. Desires can’t be broken, right?

I hope to be stronger in all relationships in my life. I want to be a good daughter, sister, lover and friend. I want those close of me to know how much I care.

I hope to grow intellectually. I want to read more, travel more, work harder smarter and try new things. I want to push myself to the next level in what ever it is that I do.

I hope to be more adventurous. I want to shake it harder, wear my heels higher (if that’s possible),  try the restaurant that I’ve never been too (perhaps even try sushi again), stay out for that night cap… even if I have to be up early.

What do you hope for in 2009?

PS- Thank you all for your sweet words and support in 2008. You have all been too sweet. Also, I’m gotten a few emails lately wondering, so I thought I’d let y’all know…I’m alive and the man and I are fine.  xo
